If I remembered correctly, the problem appeared here before. So let's try a general version: Can you do it for N rings? (Assume the rings are as flexible as needed.)
That is exactly what I have in mind. When little girls play with rubber bands, they string up the rubber bands this way. I thought a girl would come up with a solution first, because there are more smart girls here than any other places I know. :) They probably ignored this post. :(www.ddhw.com
