3 November 2008: It took over three hours for this photography session. This picture was recorded in Bangi, a fairly compact settlement area near Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. The model, Noramin Abdul Razak, tried to kick the ball with a lot of force.

Rock Fort, India

Day: Your Photos

This photo is taken at the top of the 83-meter-high Rock Fort—the only outcrop in the otherwise flat land of the city of Trichy in Tamil Nadu, India. I awoke for the climb at sunrise, in order to capture the colours from the sun radiating over the hazy city. Looking back down, we see one of many decorative Hindu temples in the area of the Rock Fort.

Mahout Bathing an Elephant, India

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

Watching a mahout lovingly bathe his elephant, I tried capturing the moment from the riverside but wasn't satisfied with what I saw through the viewfinder. There was something lacking that made the image not do justice to the scene. I then climbed a tree with a branch extending out over the water and got my shot, which may have been my last as I almost fell off after taking it. I'm sure the beautiful elephant would not have been very happy about me falling out of a tree straight onto her stomach!

I took at least 50 shots and spent well over an hour to capture this beauty.

The photo was taken in the Samburu region of Kenya. It had not rained in six months. However, this young female seemed in excellent shape.
