标题: 汽车加油问题(之一)

There are two gas stations in two different cities. Shell is in city A and Arco is in city B. I live in city A and work in city B. I fill my car till the gas tank is full. I found that when I fill gas in city B, I can drive 330 miles with a full tank of gas. But when I fill gas in city A I can drive 360 miles. Do you know the reason behind this?

Guess you fill the tank with different grades of gas: in city A you fill with a higher grade; in city B you fill with a lower grade.

标题: 是ob的真实经历? 如果加的是同一级别的汽油, 那还有以下两种可能(特别第二条有实用意义):

1. Shell 的油比 Arco的质量好些

2. 在city A 加油时天气较凉快(早,晚,或夜里); 在city B 加油时天气较热(大白天).

补充3种可能性

1、上班路线与下班路线不是同一条。

2、上班时交通红绿灯的设计的结果是一路畅通，而下班却是总遇到红灯。

3、gas station 的加油头部长度不同（结果就是加的油的数量不同，尽管都是full tank）

Do you know if the gas is measured at the beginning of the hose (close the car) or at the end of the hose (attached to the station)?

上图画红圈的部分应该有一个阀门，也就是说，黑色的软管部分应该一直充满汽油。

油量的测量，可以在任何地方（It doesn't matter, beginning of the hose or end of the hose. 加油量的结果应该是准确的）。我猜可能是在软管与油库(station)接触地方（end of the hose）。

出油口（金属管部分）的长短能改变加油量（full tank）。所以，我在某一个加油站加满油有可能比在另一个加油站加满油多出一加仑。

以上都是我的猜测，没有根据。

Tempature in City A and B are different, so you get different volume of gas from the pump. There was news about this, some states mandate gas pump use some adjustments.

无聊的问题。

full tank 是多少？取决于剩余在tank里的汽油。再说，330miles和360miles是多次统计的精确结论还是一种感觉而已？？？

没有确切结论的问题，不能成其为问题，因此也就没有一定的答案。

I assume that Brother ob usuallly fill up in city A when drive to work (early morning), but fill up in city B on his way home (PM).
