Maybe YMA16 means something psychological rather than physiological? In that sense, actually the phrase "to get sick of" is good enough. The closest expression I could think of is, as a bit too formal it may sound, "to be surfeited with sth.", which means to get fed up with something so much that you don't want it any more. ...Well, "to get fed up with" is also a useful expression, though a bit informal. An alternative may be 'to be "allergic "to something', meaning you dislike (not physically "allergic" to) something very very much. The meaning of the last, however, is slightly different, as it refers to the situation that you dislike something as a routine, not a temporary effect; what's more, you have to make sure you use it in the right context to avoid being misleading--after all, it means a physiological reaction to some certain thing at the first instance, and you are using it like a metaphor. |
